Arachnid League is operated by Xander Labs LLC ("we", "us"). You can reach us at xander@xanderlabs.io.
By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the app.
You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough in the place you live to enter into this agreement. If a league you join involves money, you are responsible for being old enough and legally permitted to take part where you live.
You sign in with an email address and a one-time code. Keep access to that email address secure; anything done from your account is treated as done by you.
You may delete your account at any time from inside the app. Deleting it destroys your sign-in and removes your name, your Venmo handle and your messages. Your past finds remain, because results in leagues you competed in were decided partly by them and a certified week is never rewritten — but what remains does not identify you.
You keep ownership of the photographs and text you post. By posting them you give us permission to store and display them to the members of the leagues you posted them to, so the app can work. That permission ends when the content is removed, except where a league's past results depend on it.
You are responsible for what you post. Only post photographs you took or have the right to use.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on Arachnid League. You may not post or send:
Leagues are private groups. That does not make anything on this list acceptable inside one.
Every message and every find can be reported from inside the app. Reports go to us, not to your league, and they are read by a person.
We review reports and act on them promptly. Where content breaks these terms we remove it, and we may suspend or permanently remove the account that posted it. Serious cases — threats, sexual content involving minors, or anything we believe presents a risk to someone's safety — are removed without warning and may be reported to the authorities.
You can also block any other member. Blocking hides the two of you from each other everywhere in the app.
The app refuses some content before it is posted. That filtering is imperfect and is not a substitute for reporting.
We decide, at our discretion, what breaks these terms. We are not obliged to explain a decision, though we will where we reasonably can.
Each league is run by one or more commissioners who are ordinary members, not employees or agents of ours. Commissioners rank species, certify weeks, issue cards and resolve disputes. We do not arbitrate what happens inside a league. If you disagree with a commissioner's ruling, that is a matter between you and your league.
Commissioners compete in their own leagues. That is by design.
This is important, so it is stated plainly.
If you have a dispute about money with another member, it is between the two of you.
To record when and where a find was made, the app reads the capture time and coordinates from the original photograph in your device's photo library, with your permission. You can refuse, and your finds still count — they are simply marked as having no verified time or place.
A find's location is blurred before anyone else sees it, by at least the radius the league has set. You can choose to be vaguer than that; you cannot be more precise.

The app shows advertising. Ads are non-personalised — we do not use your advertising identifier to target them. Where the app offers a purchase to remove advertising, that purchase is handled by Apple or Google under their terms, not by us.
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the app at any time. We do not promise the app will be available without interruption, or free of errors.
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these terms, or if we are required to. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows. Species rankings in the app are the opinions of a league's commissioner. Nothing in Arachnid League is identification advice, safety advice or medical advice. Do not rely on it to decide whether a spider is dangerous. If you have been bitten, contact a medical professional.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Xander Labs LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, arising out of your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
We may update these terms. If we make a material change we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Arachnid League after that means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
